Identity Client Runtime Library (IDCRL) could not look up the realm information for a federated sign-in

I get this error when I try to connect to our SharePoint online/O365 site, running from a SharePoint 2013 VM:

Identity Client Runtime Library (IDCRL) could not look up the realm information for a federated sign-in

Running from my host O/S (which doesn't have SharePoint) I get

"The specified module could not be found - 0x8007007E".

From another SharePoint O365 VM the first time I tried to connect I got a DNS error resolving the hostname, but on the second attempt it worked fine.

All 3 systems are accessing the internet via the same connection.

Any clues?

That's annoying when you are trying to get it to work and then all machines are responding differently!

It looks that the issue on your host might be solved via this approach The specified module could not be found (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

The other two are not related I guess, but I can't say depending on your feedback. With VM's it is important your network settings are oke. Otherwise things simply don't work. Please check that first and work from there.

Good luck!
